Celebrating Art, Nature, and Community

At Lucas Miles Atelier in the heart of La Herradura, creativity flourishes in harmony with the natural world. Our atelier is more than a gallery — it’s a space where local and international artists come together, each bringing their own vision, story, and craft. From striking photography and original paintings to handmade lampshades and bespoke frames, every piece is chosen for its artistry and authenticity. Visitors can discover unique gifts and keepsakes, including framed photography, fine art cards, and vibrant digital prints — perfect mementos of this beautiful corner of Spain.

One of the artists whose work captures the very spirit of the region is Annie Peters, the creator behind Sweet Nature Photography. Annie’s fine art prints and handmade cards — many framed and ready to gift — offer striking yet delicate portrayals of the natural world. Although British-born, Annie spent 14 years in Georgia, USA, where she developed a passion for photography, especially capturing birds in flight. Her fascination with hummingbirds became the foundation of her portfolio, leading to exhibitions at the Blue Ridge Art Center, Covington Art Gallery, and the American Redemption Emporium near Atlanta.

After returning to the UK in 2017, Annie expanded her portfolio, selling in local galleries, craft fairs, and country retail outlets in Kent and North Wales. Her signature style — vibrant, heartfelt, and finely detailed — has made her work a favourite among collectors. Now living in La Herradura for much of the year, Annie has created a special Spanish collection that celebrates the beauty and charm of Andalusia. From sunlit bougainvillea to local village doors and windows, her photography reflects the unique colours, textures, and rhythms of life by the sea.

La Herradura itself is an artist’s dream and a traveller’s delight. Nestled between dramatic headlands, this picturesque bay offers some of the best scuba diving and snorkelling in Spain — perhaps even in the Mediterranean. Beneath the waves, rich coral gardens and protected marine habitats support a thriving ecosystem, while above, the surrounding hills and coastline are alive with vibrant flora and fauna. It’s a place where outdoor enthusiasts, photographers, and artists find endless inspiration.

Alongside Annie’s work, visitors to the Atelier can also discover other talented creatives, including Amsterdam-based artist Noor Houtakkers, whose digital prints, textiles, and paintings explore the deep connection between femininity and nature. Noor’s work, like Annie’s, reflects Lucas Miles Atelier’s mission to showcase artists whose creations are rooted in authenticity and a sense of place.

Whether you’re seeking original artwork, a thoughtful gift, or simply a place to immerse yourself in creativity, Lucas Miles Atelier is a must-visit. Here, art and nature meet — and the beauty of La Herradura lives on in every piece you take home.
